Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban says he will urge his country's legislators to vote in favor of Sweden's membership in NATO. Hungary remains the sole member nation that has not approved Sweden's entry to the military alliance after Turkey's parliament on Tuesday voted to accept Sweden into NATO. Orban expressed his government's support for Sweden's membership to NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg over the phone on Wednesday. He also posted on social media that he will urge Parliament, where his governing party has a majority, to swiftly vote to approve the membership. Orban had earlier explained that the delay was due to discontent against Sweden among members of the ruling party as the Nordic nation has expressed concerns over Hungary's political situation. Hungary's Parliament will not reconvene till mid-February. Whether the ratification will proceed as planned remains to be seen. Hungary is the only factor delaying Sweden's membership of NATO.
