A senior official of the Russian foreign ministry has called on the United States not to provide Ukraine with Tomahawk cruise missiles.
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov spoke to reporters on Wednesday.
He said that strong momentum created in Anchorage for a peace agreement has unfortunately been &quot;largely exhausted,&quot; blaming European countries.
Ryabkov apparently indicated that the impetus to realize a ceasefire and peace between Russia and Ukraine increased after the US-Russia summit held in the US state of Alaska in August.
On Washington considering providing Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine, Ryabkov said that would be a &quot;serious escalatory step&quot; and mean a &quot;qualitative change&quot; in the situation.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy wrote on social media on Wednesday that long-range drones have achieved significant results in destroying Russian air defense systems. He indicated Ukrainian forces will continue operations aimed at reducing Russian military potential.
