Thousands of fans of "Dragon Ball" in Argentina have paid tribute to its creator, Toriyama Akira, who died earlier this month at the age of 68. The fans gathered around an obelisk in the center of the Argentine capital of Buenos Aires on Sunday to mourn the death of the manga legend. They sang the anime's theme song and struck the pose of the "Spirit Bomb" attack, which is one of the special techniques used by the main character, Son Goku. Dragon Ball is highly popular in Central and South America. Memorial events for the late author have been held in various parts of the region. Top soccer teams and players have posted messages online expressing gratitude to Toriyama. One of the fans at the event said he has been passionate about Dragon Ball since he was a child. He also said the work taught him many things, such as the importance of friendship and never giving up.
