The US military has recovered the remains of another crewmember who was on board the Osprey transport aircraft that crashed in the waters off southwestern Japan late last month. It is still trying to find the last missing member of the crew. The US Air Force Special Operations Command announced that the individual's remains had been recovered in a statement on Sunday. The CV-22 Osprey was carrying eight crewmembers when it crashed in the waters off Kagoshima Prefecture's Yakushima Island on November 29. The US military has grounded all the Osprey tilt-rotor aircraft that it has deployed around the world. It is currently trying to determine the cause of the crash. It said, "Preliminary investigation information indicates a potential materiel failure caused the mishap." The Osprey aircraft is made in the US. Several of them have been involved in serious accidents. In 2010, four people were killed when an Osprey crash-landed in Afghanistan. In 2012, five crewmembers were injured in a crash that occurred during a training mission in Florida. Last year in August, a safety issue prompted the US to ground all the aircraft, but they were eventually permitted to fly again.
