US President-elect Donald Trump reiterated that he will block the planned takeover of US Steel by Japan&#039;s Nippon Steel.
                
Trump said in a post on his Truth Social site on Monday that he is totally against &quot;the once great and powerful US Steel&quot; being bought by a foreign company.
                
He also said he will make the American company strong and great again through a series of tax incentives and tariffs. Trump added that it will happen fast.
                
He had repeatedly stated his opposition to the deal during the presidential election campaign.
                
The two companies agreed on the takeover in December last year, but the United Steelworkers union opposed the plan.
                
Nippon Steel recently said it expects the deal to go through by the end of the year under the current administration of President Joe Biden.
                
The US Committee on Foreign Investment examines acquisition plans. It has been reviewing the deal to see if it poses any national security risks.
