A: Hey Hana! Did you hear anything crazy in the news?

B: Hi Kenji! Not really… what’s up?

A: Apparently, Trump's people are thinking about stopping all oil from going to Cuba.

B: Wow! Seriously? Why would they do that?

A: They want to try and change the government there, I guess. Like, force them to do things differently.

B: That sounds pretty intense. I heard Marco Rubio, the Secretary of State, is pushing for it. His family is from Cuba, right?

A: Yep! He’s really keen on this.

B: But I read somewhere that some people are worried it could cause problems for the Cuban people. Like, a humanitarian crisis.

A: Exactly! That's why they haven't decided yet.  They’re thinking about the consequences.

B:  I saw something too about Trump wanting Cuba to “make a deal” soon.

A: Yeah, he’s been putting a lot of pressure on them recently. It seems like Venezuela had something to do with it.

B:  So, it's all part of trying to create stability in the Americas?

A: That's what they're saying. Cuba's become a big focus now.
