The Japanese government says another fellow country person has been evacuated from Sudan, bringing the total number of Japanese nationals and their family members who have left the African country to 59. Foreign Ministry press secretary Ono Hikariko said at a news conference on Wednesday that the person previously had no wish to evacuate. But she said the ministry learned that the person traveled by land to neighboring Ethiopia, where the person has been confirmed safe. With the latest exodus, a total of 52 Japanese nationals and family members who amount to seven people have been evacuated from Sudan. Separately, one Japanese national who is in southern Sudan withdrew the initial evacuation request. That now leaves no Japanese nationals wishing to leave Sudan.
