Japanese Prime Minister Ishiba Shigeru is holding his first summit with US President Donald Trump. They're meeting for talks in Washington. Ishiba is the second foreign leader to meet Trump in-person at the White House since the US president started his second term. He says he hopes the two can build trust and have a candid exchange of views. He told reporters before leaving Japan that he'd like to confirm the two sides will cooperate on economic and security issues. And he wants to reaffirm they'll work together for peace, and to realize a free and open Indo-Pacific region.
