The coronation of Britain's King Charles III will be held in May of next year.
King Charles ascended to the throne on September 8 following the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II.
Buckingham Palace announced on Tuesday that the coronation will take place on May 6 at Westminster Abbey in London. The state funeral of Queen Elizabeth was also held there.
Coronations have been held at Westminster Abbey for 900 years. Many dignitaries from around the world are expected to attend the ceremony.
King Charles will be crowned along with his wife Queen Consort Camilla. He will be blessed by the Archbishop of Canterbury, the principal leader of the Church of England.
The design for the profile of the new king has been released in the United Kingdom. The images will be used on coins and stamps, and his monogram will appear on post boxes and royal household documents.
In an opinion poll conducted by the research firm Ipsos last month, 61 percent of the respondents said they expect the king will do a good job, up 12 percentage points from three months earlier.
The firm said, "King Charles starts his reign with the majority of Britons optimistic that he will make a good king, and an increased belief in the longevity of the monarchy."
It added that it will be important to track whether this view is sustained, "especially as the challenge of demonstrating relevance to younger generations remains."
