A: Hey, did you see the news about Japan lately?
   B: Nope, what's up?

A: There's this beautiful sight in Tochigi Prefecture, north of Tokyo! About 200,000 Japanese irises, or hana shobu as they call 'em, have made colorful carpets in a park!

B: Whoa, that sounds stunning! When did they start blooming?

A: Early June, at Ashikaga Flower Park. But get this, they've been blooming earlier due to high temperatures lately, but this year, the chilly weather made them bloom right on schedule!

B: Wow, that's amazing! So when did folks go to see 'em?

A: Visitors went on Sunday. They admired the white and purple flowers and took loads of photos.

B: I bet they were beautiful! Did anyone have any favorites?

A: Yeah, this woman from Gunma prefecture said she was surprised to see so many more flowers than she expected. She thought they were elegant and beautiful.

A: Park official Koike Tomoko says Japanese irises match the rainy season. She hopes as many people as possible will come to enjoy them.
