Tokyo police have arrested two suspects for allegedly using other people's credit card data to purchase Shinkansen bullet train tickets worth about 700,000 yen, or around 4,500 dollars. Police arrested Chinese national Liu Hu and Vietnamese national Vu Thi Chinh on suspicion of theft and other allegations. They are suspected of purchasing the tickets from Central Japan Railway Company's reservation site using illegally obtained credit card data. Liu is alleged to have purchased tickets worth around 1,500 dollars, and Chinh about 3,000 dollars, in July and August. They are believed to have sold them for cash at discount ticket shops. Tokyo police believe the illegal purchases were made using account and credit card information stolen through illegitimate reservation sites and by other methods. They have not disclosed whether the suspects have admitted to the allegations. Central Japan Railway Company says that since January, tickets worth a total of 870 million yen, or around 5.6 million dollars, have been purchased illegally from their website.
