Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has met with Chinese Premier Li Qiang in Shanghai. The two agreed to strengthen bilateral ties. Anwar said in a social media post after Tuesday's talks that he expressed gratitude for China's support in endorsing his country as a new BRICS partner. Malaysia has also applied for a full membership of the group, which includes China, Russia, India and other emerging economies.
