The Beatles have released what is billed as their "last" song, which was produced with the help of artificial intelligence. The British rock group's late member John Lennon composed the tune, "Now and Then," in 1978, two years before he was killed. But the original cassette tape used to record a home demo of the track was marred by noise. AI technology was employed to separate Lennon's vocals from the extraneous background sounds. The completed work also features contributions from the three other former Beatles -- Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr and the late George Harrison. About 70 longtime fans of the band joined a listening party at the Liverpool Beatles Museum in England on Thursday. They counted down to the moment when the track was released around the world. One participant said she has been a fan of the band for 50 years. She said the use of AI was a very clever method, which made her feel as if Lennon had participated in the recording. The museum's owner, Roag Best, expressed surprise at the unexpected issuing of a new Beatles song. He added that he also felt like Lennon had taken a hand in the recording.
