1. Bullying incidents in Japanese schools reached a record high for the fourth consecutive year in fiscal 2024, with a total of 769,022 cases reported. 2. The majority of these incidents occurred at elementary schools (610,612 cases), followed by junior high schools (135,865 cases), senior high schools (18,891 cases), and schools for students with special needs (3,654 cases). 3. The education ministry reported an increase of 36,400 cases from the previous fiscal year, and a rise in serious cases such as suicide and truancy to 1,405, also a record high. Online bullying saw a significant increase, with over 27,300 cases reported.
