Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant says his forces' offensive against Hamas in the Gaza Strip has been successful.

The Israeli military on Friday released footage showing Gallant visiting an airbase in Haifa in northern Israel.

He said his troops will continue their offensive in Gaza until they achieve their goal. Gallant said that they have performed well and that the goal of destroying Hamas is within reach.

Israeli military officials said on Friday that they had found a tunnel complex believed to be one of the hideouts of the leader of Hamas in Gaza, Yahya Sinwar, in Gaza City.

They said the tunnel was equipped with electricity and facilities for ventilation and sewage, as well as prayer and resting rooms.

The expanding Israeli offensive in southern and central Gaza has caused a growing number of casualties due to the daily bombing of homes and other facilities.

Health authorities in Gaza said on Friday that 187 people had been killed within the past 24 hours, bringing the death toll to 21,507 since the beginning of the conflict. They said more than 1,000 people were killed in a single week.
