Former Philippine president Rodrigo Duterte is being transferred to the International Criminal Court in The Hague.
Authorities arrested the ex-leader on Tuesday in accordance with a warrant issued by the ICC for alleged crimes against humanity.
        
                    
                  
Duterte was apprehended at an airport in Manila as he was returning from Hong Kong.
He is set to face charges in connection with his bloody &quot;war on drugs&quot; crackdown while he was in office. Manila has confirmed that more than 6,000 people were killed in the campaign.
        
                    
                  
Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. stressed that the arrest had been implemented appropriately.
Meanwhile, the incumbent vice president and a daughter of the ex-president, Sara Duterte, strongly condemned the arrest.
