A: Hey there! Got any news? B: Not much, what's up? A: Well, I heard Sergey Lavrov is in North Korea right now! B: No way! What's he doing there? A: Looks like they're trying to draw Russian tourists to a new coastal resort. Crazy, huh? B: That sounds interesting! He's meeting with the North Korean Foreign Minister, Choe Son Hui. A: Yep, and they're discussing a possible visit of Kim Jong Un to Russia, plus more support for Russia's situation in Ukraine. B: Wow, that's some serious talks going on! Lavrov is also delivering a letter from Putin to Kim. A: Also, it seems like they're deepening their military cooperation under this strategic partnership. B: That sounds tense... Lavrov also mentioned the US is provoking North Korea by strengthening its alliances with South Korea and Japan. A: Exactly! He said Russia will do everything possible to prevent such provocations. Crazy times, right? ---------------- Russia's Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov is visiting North Korea, in the latest sign of the two countries' deepening ties. Lavrov arrived in the eastern city of Wonsan on Friday night. North Korea is trying to draw Russian tourists to a new coastal resort in the area. Russia's Foreign Ministry says Lavrov will meet his North Korean counterpart Choe Son Hui during his stay through Sunday. They are expected to discuss a plan for North Korean leader Kim Jong Un to visit Russia, and Pyongyang's additional support for Moscow's invasion of Ukraine. Lavrov is expected to hand Kim a letter from President Vladimir Putin. The two countries are deepening military cooperation under a comprehensive strategic partnership signed in June last year. Lavrov said on Friday that the United States is strengthening its alliances with South Korea and Japan, and provoking North Korea. He said Russia will do everything possible to prevent such provocations.
