Air defense officials of the United States and Canada are tracking and live-streaming Santa Claus' trip around the globe on Christmas Eve. The North American Aerospace Defense Command, or NORAD, is tasked with monitoring missiles and aircraft. But at this time of the year, NORAD carries out a special mission -- tracking Santa Claus. A special NORAD website shows Santa delivering presents to children across the world after departing from the North Pole aboard a sleigh pulled by nine reindeer. The sleigh was spotted flying over Japan at around 11:00 p.m. local time on Sunday. Due to a technical problem, the live-streaming was disrupted for about an hour. NORAD started the Christmas tradition 68 years ago, when children called the command by mistake to speak to Santa Claus. More than 1,250 soldiers and volunteers are responding to calls and e-mails from children all over the world.
