Japan's two biggest air carriers have reported net profits for the April to June quarter, when air-travel demand recovered in the aftermath of the coronavirus pandemic. Japan Airlines says its group net profit came in at 23 billion yen, or around 160 million dollars. It's the first time in four years for the company to return to the black in that quarter. JAL says sales grew more than 40 percent from a year earlier. Passenger numbers for its international flights more than doubled. Those on its domestic routes were up 40 percent. Net profit surged at rival airline operator ANA Holdings during the three-month period. It stood at 215 million dollars, up sharply from 7 million dollars a year earlier.
