Tokyo-born giant panda Xiang Xiang appeared in a video released on Monday, for the first time since she left for China in February. China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda in Sichuan Province, inland China, where Xiang Xiang now lives, posted the video on social media. It shows Xiang Xiang chewing bamboo shoots eagerly, suggesting she is in good health. It was taken by her keeper on Friday. The center says Xiang Xiang is relatively shy and is easily scared. Workers except for her keeper are trying to avoid contact with her as much as possible so that she can get used to the new environment. Xiang Xiang was born in June 2017 at Ueno Zoo in Tokyo. Her parents were loaned by China to the Tokyo Metropolitan Government for breeding research. Xiang Xiang was sent back to China under an ownership agreement with Beijing. Xiang Xiang will be revealed to the public as early as this month.
