China's Foreign Ministry says Premier Li Qiang will pay an official visit to Germany and France from June 18 to 23. The trip will be Li's first overseas visit since he took office in March.
The ministry made the announcement on Thursday. It says Li will talk with Chancellor Olaf Scholz in Germany and attend an international economic conference in France.
Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin expressed hope that the visit will make a new contribution to the healthy and stable development of China-Europe relations.
The German chancellor visited China last November, and French President Emmanuel Macron did so in April.
The two leaders both talked with Chinese President Xi Jinping during the visits.
Li's trip next week is apparently intended to strengthen bilateral relations with the European countries on the back of their close economic ties amid a continued row between China and the United States.
