A: Hey Sakura! Did you hear about the Fukushima plant?

B: No, what’s new? It’s been a long time since 2011.

A: TEPCO, you know, the company running the plant, is planning something pretty cool.

B: Oh? What are they doing now?

A: They're going to send a tiny camera inside one of the reactors! Like, really inside.

B: Wow! Seriously? That’s the first time they’ve ever done that, right?

A: Exactly! It’s to check out the reactor core of Unit 2. They want to figure out how to get rid of all the melted fuel.

B: Melted fuel? That’s a lot of trouble. They call it fuel debris, yeah?

A: Yep, about 880 tons of it! It’s a big challenge to take it all out.

B: So, this camera…what will it do?

A: It's super small, just 5 millimeters thick. They'll feed it through a pipe inside the reactor.

B: Tiny! What will it show them?

A: Pictures and radiation readings! They want to see what's around and how much radiation there is.

B: Makes sense. They can use that information to plan how to get the fuel out safely.

A: Right! They were supposed to do this earlier, but they needed to fix some equipment.

B: Oh, like what happened with the drone at Unit 3? I saw that.

A: Yeah, the drone broke too. So, they’re still figuring out when to do that survey. But this reactor camera thing is happening soon!
