Officials from the United States and Israel have discussed the course of Israel's attacks in the Gaza Strip. The administration of President Joe Biden is reportedly pushing for better targeted operations, as there appears to be no end to the rising Palestinian death toll.

The meeting between US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu included discussion on how to end the conflict.

The US urged Israel to scale back its attacks. Israel indicated it would but only under certain conditions.

Sullivan said, "There will be a transition to another phase of this war. One that is focused in more precise ways on targeting the leadership and on intelligence driven operations that continue to deal with the ongoing threats that Hamas poses."

The New York Times reports the Biden administration has urged Israel to switch to more selective operations within three weeks to save civilian lives.

The transport of aid supplies may soon see an improvement. Currently, the Rafah crossing is the only way for trucks to enter the enclave. People in Gaza face serious shortages of everything needed for daily life.

A woman said, "We have no functioning toilets. No one has flour. We have absolutely nothing."

US officials say Sullivan and Netanyahu also discussed the possible opening of another crossing into Gaza at Kerem Shalom, near Rafah.

On Friday, Israeli government officials said they have temporarily approved the unloading of trucks on the Gaza side of the crossing.

Meanwhile, prosecutors in Germany have revealed they detained four Hamas members in Germany and the Netherlands.

Investigators allege they were planning terrorist attacks on Jewish facilities, on orders from Hamas' military arm.

In a separate case, police in Denmark have detained three people on charges of planning terror attacks.

Investigators did not say whether the suspects are connected to Hamas but said they will step up security around Jewish communities.
