Japanese man wounded in stabbing in Yangon NHK

A Japanese man was wounded in a stabbing attack in Myanmar's largest city, Yangon, on Saturday.

The Japanese Embassy there says the man was taken to a hospital for treatment. His injury is not considered life-threatening.

Embassy officials say two Japanese men were attacked by a group of men while walking on the street at about 9 p.m. One of the men was stabbed in the chest area with what appears to have been a knife.

Security has deteriorated in Myanmar amid economic turmoil following the February 2021 coup. Robberies have increased in urban areas.
