The leaders of Belarus and Russia plan to meet in Moscow on Friday, ahead of the first anniversary of Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko spoke with members of foreign media outlets in the capital Minsk on Thursday. He said he will be discussing security and economic issues with Putin. The allies are expected to consider engaging in further cooperative efforts in those fields, ahead of the February 24 anniversary of the Russian invasion. Lukashenko was asked about the possibility of Belarus joining Russia's military invasion. The president said he will only send his troops to Ukraine, if soldiers enter his country to kill his people. On Thursday, the Kremlin also made an announcement about the meeting between the two leaders. It said they will discuss important issues, such as efforts aimed at advancing the strategic partnership and alliance between their nations. The two leaders last met in person in December.
