Hibakusha calls on G7 leaders to 'end war' NHK

The G7 leaders meeting in Hiroshima also had the chance to speak with Ogura Keiko. She is an atomic bomb survivor, known as Hibakusha.

Ogura was 8 years old when she was exposed to the nuclear explosion. She says she talked with the leaders about its horrible effects, and how many of its victims spent days or years with no visible injuries before dying from its radiation. Ogura says what happened in her city must never be repeated.

Ogura said, "Through these leader's eyes, and ears, I want people all of the world those leaders listen to and feel to think about Hiroshima what happened."

Ogura says getting rid of nuclear weapons needs to start with average people. She says they need to push their leaders to make disarmament a priority.
