Thailand's Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra and Chinese President Xi Jinping have agreed to tackle cross-border crimes in Myanmar. Many Chinese nationals have reportedly been forced to work at scam centers in the country. The leaders met in Beijing on Thursday during Paetongtarn's first official visit to the country since taking office. President Xi said he appreciated Thailand's efforts to combat scams. He added that both countries need to continue cooperating to enforce the law. Paetongtarn said Thailand is cracking down on cross-border crimes. Parts of Myanmar's border with Thailand have come into the spotlight as hotbeds for telecom fraud. Numerous people including Chinese are believed to have been abducted to work in scam centers in the areas. Thailand on Wednesday cut off electricity to some areas in Myanmar to keep scam centers from operating.
