US President Donald Trump has signed an executive order to introduce a new anti-missile system, called American Iron Dome, to defend the US homeland.
                
It is one of four defense-related executive orders Trump signed aboard Air Force One on his way from Florida to Washington on Monday.
                
Trump calls the planned missile interceptor shield America&#039;s version of Israel&#039;s Iron Dome air defense system.
                
In explaining the purpose of the plan, the order says &quot;the threat of attack by ballistic, hypersonic, and cruise missiles, and other advanced aerial attacks, remains the most catastrophic threat facing the United States.&quot;
                
The order, however, does not specify when the defense system is to be constructed.
                
Trump talked about the anti-missile shield in an address in Florida on Sunday. He said &quot;everything will be made right here in the USA, 100 percent.&quot;
                
The project appears to be aimed at strengthening national defense and invigorating the US defense industry.
