Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is hosting a virtual summit with leaders of developing countries. He says it's part of his agenda as this year's chair of the Group of Twenty nations to "amplify the voice of the Global South." More than 120 countries have been invited to the two-day summit which started on Thursday. Modi mentioned the devastating effects of the pandemic, climate change, and the Ukraine conflict in an opening statement. He said these challenges were not created by the Global South but affect their countries more. He urged developing countries to tackle these issues by overhauling the global systems of political and financial governance. Modi also highlighted his country's leading role among developing countries. He pointed to how India provided vaccines and medicine to more than 100 nations during the pandemic.
