Japanese police sources say a suspected fugitive believed to have been involved in a bombing attack in the 1970s did not present a health insurance card or any other form of ID when he was hospitalized. Tokyo police officers are trying to identify the person through DNA analysis and other means. They are also looking into how he spent the years he is thought to have been on the run. Police learned that a man believed to be the fugitive Kirishima Satoshi was hospitalized in Kanagawa Prefecture, near Tokyo. They put him in custody on Thursday. Kirishima was a member of the East Asia Anti-Japan Armed Front. The group is believed to be responsible for a series of bombing attacks that were carried out in 1974 and 1975. Kirishima was placed on a nationwide wanted list for his suspected involvement in one of the attacks in Tokyo's Ginza district in 1975. Investigative sources have told NHK that the individual who claimed to be Kirishima did not present a health insurance card at the hospital and opted to pay for his treatment with his own money. He is reportedly suffering from stomach cancer. He is able to respond to investigators, but is seriously ill and loses consciousness from time to time. He was quoted as saying that he wants to spend the remaining days of his life using his real name. It has also been learned that the man was working at a civil engineering company in Kanagawa Prefecture before he was admitted to the hospital recently.
