The leaders of Japan, the US and South Korea are expected to meet in the United States shortly to discuss their response to North Korea's repeated missile launches. Prime Minister Kishida Fumio unveiled the plan on Monday during a meeting of executives of his ruling Liberal Democratic Party. Kishida noted that the two ballistic missiles North Korea launched on Thursday fell in Japan's exclusive economic zone, which cannot be tolerated. He said bilateral ties between Japan and South Korea are improving at a rapid pace. He expressed readiness to respond to the complicated security environment more aggressively, by sharing information in accordance with the close alliance among the three countries. He said leaders of the three nations briefly met in Hiroshima on the sidelines of the Group of Seven summit in May and subsequently they agreed to meet shortly in the United States for in depth discussions.
