Moscow says Russia destroyed two Ukrainian drones NHK

Officials in Russia say the country destroyed two Ukrainian drones over the western regions bordering Ukraine.

The Russian defense ministry said on Sunday that Ukraine mounted drone attacks in Russia. It said Russia destroyed two Ukrainian drones over the western regions of Kursk and Belgorod.

The governor of Kursk said in his social media post that a Ukrainian drone attacked an administrative building in the central district, damaging its roof slightly.

Ukraine has not officially admitted its involvement in the attacks. But Ukrainian media quote the country's defense intelligence sources as saying Kyiv's drone attack directly hit the Russian Federal Security Service building in Kursk.

The sources also said another drone attack took place, striking an oil refinery near an airfield in Kursk and causing a fire.

Meanwhile, the governor of Ukraine's southern region of Kherson said on Sunday that Russia shelled the western bank of the Dnipro River.

The governor said the attack destroyed private homes, leaving two people dead and three others wounded, including a police officer.

Local prosecutors say the Kherson region later came under more attacks, leaving five people wounded.
