A Japanese official of the UN agency for Palestinian refugees, or UNRWA, hopes to continue providing humanitarian aid in the Gaza Strip despite being banned from operating in Israel. Director of Health Seita Akihiro spoke to NHK on Friday. He says the provision of aid continues in the enclave and other places, but suggested the ban would hinder efforts to deliver supplies. The measure took effect on Thursday. Israel accuses some UNRWA staff of taking part in the Hamas attacks in October 2023. The agency's office in Jerusalem was closed, with graffiti sprayed on the signboard. Seita says the agency has no intention to stop providing aid. He also expressed hope about UNRWA working with other aid organizations to help Gaza.
