Pet owners have been provided with products for their animals free of charge at an event in Ishikawa Prefecture, on the Sea of Japan coast. It is aimed at supporting them following the January 1 Noto Peninsula earthquake. Many people with their pets gathered at a park in Suzu City on Sunday. At the venue, the owners received relief supplies, including food and diapers for pets. Hamburgers were also served for them. Dogs were allowed to run freely at a space in the park, while the owners interacted. A man from a nearby town said he received a number of items, including dog food. He added he is very grateful for the event because products for pets are still in short supply at local stores. The organizers of the event say that based on the number of consultations they have provided, among other data, they believe more than 150 people are staying in their cars or damaged homes with their pets in Suzu City, rather than evacuation centers. The organizers say they plan to hold a second event of this kind around June and distribute pet goods at the park every Sunday.
