Chinese Premier Li Qiang will visit Indonesia from Tuesday to Friday for meetings with the leaders of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations and other countries. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin made the announcement on Friday. He says China hopes the meetings promote unity and bring further stability to the region and international sphere. Wang stopped short of saying who will attend the G20 summit in India on September 9 and 10. Reuters says President Xi Jinping is likely to skip the talks, with Premier Li expected to take part instead. Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio plans to attend both the ASEAN and G20 summits. It's unclear whether talks between Tokyo and Beijing will take place on the sidelines.
