A: Hey there! Heard any news lately?
   B: Not much, just trying to catch up on some reading. Why? What's up?

A: Turns out the Smithsonian museums in Washington DC had to close down due to that government shutdown.
   B: No way! When did this happen?

A: Well, they managed to stay open using funds from last year since it started on October 1st, but now they've closed 'cause the shutdown's still going on.
   B: That sounds tough. What about those poor federal workers?

A: Yeah, sadly, President Trump's administration is starting to lay off federal workers now. I heard more than 4,000 have already received notices from departments like the Treasury and Health and Human Services.
   B: I feel so sorry for them... And what about the tourists visiting DC? Can they still enjoy the Smithsonian museums and other facilities?

A: Not really. I saw some folks outside the National Museum of Natural History looking sad and disappointed 'cause they found out it's closed, along with other museums.
   B: That's too bad... Looks like we won't be able to visit those places anytime soon. Let's hope this gets resolved quickly!
