Biden touts achievements in swing state NHK

US President Joe Biden traveled to the swing state of North Carolina on Friday with a promise of making the US the world's "epicenter of economic growth."

Biden visited one of the community colleges where his administration has provided millions of dollars to train students for jobs in the clean energy market. He said America can once again take the lead in manufacturing to make it the "most competitive nation in the world." He added that his administration has already created hundreds of thousands of jobs in North Carolina.

Republican Party candidates in next year's presidential election are rallying support in the state this weekend. North Carolina voters supported former president Donald Trump in the 2020 presidential election.

Trump, former Vice President Mike Pence and Florida governor Ron DeSantis plan to give speeches to gain the upper hand in next year's race.

Biden is so far the only candidate from the Democratic party. No Democratic presidential nominee has won North Carolina since Barack Obama in 2008.
