The chairman of Taiwanese electronics giant Hon Hai Precision Industry said he is open to cooperating with Nissan Motor as the Japanese carmaker rebuilds itself. Young Liu, whose company is also known as Foxconn, made the comments to reporters in Taiwan on Wednesday. Liu stressed he is not looking to acquire Nissan. But he also said Hon Hai would consider taking a stake in the automaker if that was needed for the alliance. Liu was speaking after his company held talks with French automaker Renault about forming a tie-up. Renault is the largest shareholder in Nissan. The Hon Hai chairman admitted that the discussions included the possible purchase of Nissan shares.
