NHK poll: Kishida Cabinet approval rate at 57% NHK

NHK's latest poll shows the Cabinet of Prime Minister Kishida Fumio has an approval rating of 57 percent, up 7 percentage points from the previous survey last month. The disapproval rating stands at 20 percent, down 6 points.

NHK conducted the phone survey over the three days ending Monday. Over 1,200 people responded.

Among those who support the Cabinet, 39 percent said it seems better than other lineups, while 21 percent said it is representative of the parties they support.

Of those who disapprove, 45 percent said they do not expect much from the Cabinet's policies, and 22 percent said it's not a Cabinet representing the parties they support.

Asked about the government's anti-coronavirus measures, 7 percent said they evaluate them highly, and 58 percent expressed a degree of support. But 24 percent said they do not rate them highly, and 7 percent said they don't rate them at all.

Asked if the government should expand the strict anti-infection measures currently in effect in Okinawa, Yamaguchi and Hiroshima prefectures to other areas, 58 percent said expansion is necessary, while 29 percent said it's not necessary.

Asked about Japan's decision not to send a government delegation to the Beijing Winter Olympics and Paralympics, 61 percent said the decision was appropriate, while 21 percent said it was not appropriate.
