Djokovic included in draw despite visa uncertainty NHK

The world's number one tennis player Novak Djokovic has been included in a draw for the Australian Open despite the prospect of his visa being revoked again by the Australian government.

The Serbian tennis star was denied entry into Australia when he arrived at an airport in Melbourne on Wednesday last week to compete at the Australian Open, which starts on January 17.

Djokovic is bidding for a fourth consecutive title of the Australian Open.

On Monday, a court in Australia ruled that the government's decision to revoke the tennis star's visa was unreasonable and ordered that Djokovic be released from detention immediately.

The top-seeded defending champion on Thursday has been drawn to play unseeded Serbian tennis player Miomir Kecmanovic, ranked 78th, for his first round match.

But there is still uncertainty over his participation as the Australian government has yet to decide whether to cancel Djokovic's visa. It was reported that documents that Djokovic submitted before he traveled to Australia were found to contain false information.

The Australian government was quoted as saying that providing false information on the form can lead to visa cancellation.
