A Japanese Air Self-Defense Force aircraft has delivered a load of drinking water to volcano-stricken Tonga. Japan's Defense Ministry says a C-130 transport plane arrived at Tonga's main airport on Saturday afternoon where around 2,600 liters of drinking water was unloaded. The aircraft left a base in central Japan on Thursday. Another C-130 transport plane has arrived in an operation base in eastern Australia from where it will fly to Tonga to deliver more water. Japan's Defense Ministry plans to send two C-2 transport aircraft and a transport vessel to the Pacific island nation. The aircraft will deliver water, high-pressure cleaners for removing volcanic ash and other relief supplies. The Defense Ministry will also deploy the Maritime Self-Defense Force transport vessel Osumi. The ministry says Japan will do all it can in coordination with Australia and other countries to help Tonga recover from the disaster as quickly as possible.
