Japanese electronics parts maker Nidec has reported record sales and operating profit for the first three quarters of the current business year.
Nidec's group sales in the April to December period totaled just over 1.4 trillion yen, or about 12.3 billion dollars. That is up 18.8 percent in yen terms from the same period a year earlier.
Operating profit grew 16.6 percent to 135 billion yen or about 1.2 billion dollars.
The company cited brisk sales of products for electric vehicles. Sales of parts for home appliances and air conditioners were also strong, thanks to stay-at-home demand in the pandemic.
However, Nidec kept its earnings forecast for this business year through March unchanged, in view of the impact of semiconductor shortages and surging prices of materials.
