The most successful World Cup ski jumper ever was hoping it would be third time lucky in her bid for Olympic glory. But Japan&#039;s Takanashi Sara missed out on a podium finish again.
                
The 25-year-old Takanashi was competing in the women&#039;s normal hill. She&#039;s won a record 61 individual World Cup events, but she only managed fourth place in the Sochi Olympics eight years ago and took bronze at the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics.
                
Favorite Marita Kramer was out of contention after testing positive for the coronavirus, clearing the path for the Japanese star to put her demons to rest.
                
But her jumps of 98.5 and 100 meters weren&#039;t enough to beat Slovenia&#039;s Ursa Bogataj, who took gold after soaring 108 and 100 meters.
                
It was a better day for freestyle skier Horishima Ikuma, who put Japan on the medal table with a bronze in the men&#039;s moguls.
                
The gold went to Sweden&#039;s Walter Wallberg. PyeongChang Olympic champion Mikael Kingsbury of Canada took silver.
