E-commerce giant Amazon plans to more than double its maximum base pay for some US employees amid a serious labor shortage.
US media cited an internal memo in which Amazon said it will raise the annual base pay cap for engineers and office workers from 160,000 dollars to 350,000.

Other major US IT firms have made similar moves. Apple has raised bonuses for its engineers. Google's parent company, Alphabet, has increased executive compensation.
