Tokyo confirms 18,660 new infections on Friday NHK

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government says it confirmed 18,660 new cases of the coronavirus on Friday.

The daily tally is down 1,100 from a week ago, marking three straight days of week-on-week decline.

Officials say 61 patients are in serious condition, down three from Thursday.

The occupancy rate of hospital beds allocated to coronavirus patients rose one percentage point to 58.6 percent.
