At the Beijing Olympics, Japanese ski jumper Kobayashi Ryoyu has added the silver in the men's large hill event to his collection. He fell agonizingly short of his second gold of the Games. Kobayashi jumped 142 meters at his first attempt. His second jump of 138 meters gave him a total of 292.8 points, which was just 3.3 short of the top spot. Afterwards, the 25-year-old men's normal hill champ said it was a closer competition than usual. He added that he was just happy to make two good jumps. Winner Marius Lindvik of Norway was the only jumper to twice go over 140 meters.
