Prime Minister Kishida Fumio, Foreign Minister Hayashi Yoshimasa, Defense Minister Kishi Nobuo and other members of the council met for about 30 minutes on Monday.

Chief Cabinet Secretary Matsuno Hirokazu told reporters that international tensions are running high and the situation is unpredictable.
He said Japan will work with the international community, including the other G7 member nations, to appropriately deal with the issue.
Matsuno also said some airlines have already suspended flights to and from Ukraine, and all flights in and out of the country could be canceled soon.
