Tokyo confirms 9,632 new cases of coronavirus NHK

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government confirmed 9,632 new cases of the coronavirus in the capital on Monday.

The daily tally is up more than 800 from a week ago, marking the first week-on-week increase since February 19.

Tokyo officials say the number of seriously ill patients who are on ventilators or ECMO heart-lung machines is 69, down six from Sunday.

The occupancy rate of hospital beds for COVID-19 patients in the capital rose to 53 percent.
