The Tokyo Metropolitan Government confirmed 9,632 new cases of the coronavirus in the capital on Monday. The daily tally is up more than 800 from a week ago, marking the first week-on-week increase since February 19. Tokyo officials say the number of seriously ill patients who are on ventilators or ECMO heart-lung machines is 69, down six from Sunday. The occupancy rate of hospital beds for COVID-19 patients in the capital rose to 53 percent.
