Delegates from Ukraine and Russia have sat down for talks in Belarus for the first time since the invasion started last week.
                
But the fighting rages on and it remains unclear whether the negotiations will lead to a ceasefire.
                
Russia says Ukraine&#039;s &quot;neutralization&quot; and &quot;demilitarization&quot; are necessary conditions for any agreement.
                
&quot;Neutralization&quot; refers to a legal guarantee that Ukraine will not join NATO.
                
&quot;Demilitarization&quot; means the removal of anti-tank missiles and unmanned aircraft provided by NATO member countries.
                
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy says his priority is to prevent further loss of life. His delegation is expected to call for a ceasefire as soon as possible.
                
A Russian representative said before the meeting that his side was hoping for an agreement.
